NLL Champion's Cup
I teamed up with Piffles Podcast to photograph game 2 of the 3 game series between the Saskatchewan Rush and Georgia Storm as they battled it out for the 2017 Champion's Cup in the National Lacrosse League.
Georgia came to Saskatoon with a one game advantage and started strong with 3 early goals causing Rush to fight to stay in the game throughout. Saskatchewan overtook the Swarm in the 4th quarter after 4 consecutive goals and the arena was louder than it's ever been. The remainder of the period was back and forth but with Sask up 14-13 a standard goaliless 6-on-6 situation took a bad turn for the Rush when Georgia was able to force a 5th quarter by capitalizing on an empty net with 3 seconds left.
In sudden death overtime it was Georgia's Miles Thompson who scored the champion winning goal with an assist from his brother and NLL Champion's Cup MVP Lyle Thompson. Thompson brother Hiana also plays for the Swarm and Saskatchewan fan favourite Jeremy Thompson was quick to congratulate his 3 brothers as they joined him in the ranks as NLL champions.
