Zurich, Switzerland
Zurich is one of those cities that throws me into an unstoppable state of longing anytime I think about it. It's beautiful in a matter-of-fact sort of way. It's clean, it's efficient, and it's not too busy while still having plenty to do. It's the city of my dream's, really. Its only downfall is how expensive it is.
On our third day in the country my parents and I took the train into the city-centre of the largest city in the country. It was the first day of my trip with real rain but we covered up in jackets and umbrellas and made the best of it. First we went on a free-walking tour, which was a great way to get the lay of the land along with an overall history of the city. We ducked into specialty burger shop, The Butcher, for lunch and the rain passed during our meal. We continued to explore more of the old city as well as my favourite part of any city, the waterfront. Our transit passes for the day even gave us access to the water taxi's, which was a unique way to see Zurich.
We returned to Hittnau for delicious swiss-cheese raclette and our final evening with Daniel, Claudia, Kim, and Simon.
